The Weimar Republic was indeed a republic, as it was a democratic government with an elected president and parliament. However, it faced significant challenges from both the left and the right, with many groups seeking to overthrow the democratic system. While there were certainly republicans who supported the Weimar Republic, there were also many who sought to undermine or overthrow it. Ultimately, the Weimar Republic's downfall came from a combination of factors, including economic instability, political polarization, and the rise of extremist movements, rather than a lack of support from republicans. **

However, it faced significant challenges from both the left and the right, including opposition from groups that sought to overthrow the democratic system. Despite this opposition, there were many individuals and political parties within the Weimar Republic that supported the principles of republicanism, such as the protection of individual rights and the rule of law. Therefore, while the Weimar Republic faced internal and external threats to its republican ideals, it was not accurate to say that it was a republic without republicans. **

The Republicans lost the Spanish Civil War for several reasons. They faced internal divisions among various leftist factions, including anarchists, socialists, and communists, which weakened their unity and coordination. Additionally, the Republicans were not as well-equipped or organized as the Nationalists, who received significant support from fascist Italy and Nazi Germany. The Nationalists also had a more cohesive military command structure under General Francisco Franco, while the Republicans struggled with infighting and lack of effective leadership. Ultimately, these factors contributed to the Republicans' defeat in the Spanish Civil War. **
